Join our English Book Club this Saturday, November 16th, for a special event featuring international guest speaker – Karim Hammou!

Karim Hammou, a tenured researcher in sociology and history at the French National Centre for Scientific Research, is an expert in hip-hop culture and cultural industries with the focus on Europe and North America.

He is the co-editor of the Global Hip-Hop Studies Journal and the author of two books: “Une histoire du rap en France” (A History of Rap Music in France) and “Fear of a Female Planet,” a book about a French feminist punk rap band.

During the presentation, he will share insights on how this US-born music genre has become such an influential force in France, and transformed into a distinctive part of the French music scene, reflecting the nation’s triumphs and struggles in the context of its former imperial space and contemporary global role.
